Is it really possible to be taught how to hypnotize someone?

Can it be taught, or is it something that your born with? Can anyone give me a tip to hypnotize someone?

    I had a friend who was a hypnotist. You have to learn under someone who already knows how, because if someone falls to deeply into the “sleep” it can be dangerous. He started out as an apprentice, basically helping out and worked from there.

    i was taught by a doctor. its not a toy dont play games.. some one may get hurt. If dont know a persons background un pleasant memories can come up. iwas being treated for depression and taken back to my child hood bad memories came back it helped the doctor treat me// I stll use it to relax

    I do this for a living. hypnosis more than anything is a way of commincating. Anyone who is fairly intelligent and motivated to learn the skills can be taught to hypnotize. However, I also like this chess related anology. Knowing how the pieces move does not make one a chess master. Likewise, knowing the rudiments of hypnosis does not make one a master hypnotist.
