Personally, I have a strong preference for Ericksonian inductions. Milton Erickson was a great hypnotist who revolutionalised the way hypnosis is done. His inductions don’t contain the traditional direct commands but use a much more permissive language which causes much less resistance in the listener. These kind of inductions make it easy to just relax and let go of your conscious concerns and allow you to access the full resources of the unconscious mind. Erickson made great use of stories which encourage change without any obvious command such as “Give up smoking!”
